Centre for Disaster Management and Public Safety participation in Carlton Connect Initiative Conference
The Centre for Disaster Management and Public Safety, together in conjunction with Carlton Connect, will hold a conference and symposium on 30 September 2014. The Carlton Connect Initiative aims for the conference to consider partnerships among academia, industry and government and how these ties can be leveraged to effectively respond to the challenges of sustainability and resilience at the local, national and global level.
The Carlton Connect Conference will focus on the challenges facing water, food, shelter, and energy security in a complex world of climate change. An open event designed for local and global participants from across key industries, governments and academia, the conference hopes to bring together the brightest of talents from around the world to tackle the challenges and drive the solutions for a better future.
The symposium by the Centre for Disaster Management and Public Safety will give a broad overview of the importance of disaster management research and feature talks on the management of disasters for public safety around the world. In particular, the topics of global collaboration, governance, communications, policy and open standards within the context of disaster management will be discussed.
